About a week ago I realized it was already the middle of January. That means I was losing the small window of opportunity there is for Valentine’s Day decorations. So I quickly remedied that in the amount of time it takes my son to watch an episode on PBS Kids. I don’t know about you but I am all about the simple, short crafts that take barely any time or money! If your kids are a older than my little dove, then this paper heart chain is an easy holiday craft that they can help you with!

Start with one inch strips of paper. This time around I used construction paper but I’ve also used scrapbook paper in the past. I also like to use my paper trimmer rather than scissors. It’s so much faster but that’s just personal preference.

Easy Valentine's Day craft

This project is really simple in practice but a little hard to explain. I’m hoping that the pictures help but please let me know if you have any questions! Fold the strip of paper in half and staple about 1/2 inch up. Then fold the two ends of paper back on itself and staple the other two sides together near the end. This should allow for your paper chain should naturally form a heart shape. However, sometimes depending on the thickness of the paper you might need to bend it a little as well.
Simple preschool craft

This paper heart chain is a great craft to do with your little ones! Totally mess-free and I’ll bet you already have paper and staples at home. A free craft you can do with your kiddos without a store run is a total win in my book! Fun and simple to incorporate into your homeschool day for a fun Valentine’s craft or complete during a class party!
