6 month update

Table of Contents

Well, it’s been 6 months since we’ve moved into our home and although there’s a part of me that wishes that all our projects were already done so we could just relax, there’s another part of me that can look around and be pleased with what has been accomplished so far. Besides, what would I do with all my “spare” time if I had no house projects to work on? 😉

My favorite room so far is….

We still have a few projects to do in my son’s room, but for now it’s on the back burner since I feel so good about our progress in this space. I still love the multi-colored pallet wall and am so glad I took the time and effort into making it! This is also a close tie with our hall bathroom on being the room that’s the furthest along.

The color choice I’m still so glad I made is…

I love this pop of dark color in my family room and it totally works in the space. Once we get crown molding up, I know it’s really going to dress this wall up even more. I’m so glad that my husband let me paint this wall navy even though he was so unsure about it!

The upcoming project that I am currently MOST looking forward to is…

Our new laminate flooring! I am so excited to share this (very long) process with all of you! The hubby is working on the son’s room currently (you know, when he can, between work, family and church obligations) and I can’t wait to take updated pictures. A future post will talk about which underlayment we used and what flooring we picked.
And just for kicks and giggles, here’s a updated shot of our kitchen, which you haven’t seen much of since we first moved in…

We still have a long way to go in here; new appliances, new flooring, and new countertops first and foremost. The cabinets are sill the originals but are in pretty good shape so I would love to just do something to spruce them up, but the hubby is fighting me on it. We’ll see how they look with the new flooring and (eventually) the new countertops. As you can see, some of the things we’ve done already is remove the cabinet above the fridge (we couldn’t access it once the fridge went in anyway and now it’s usable space) and removed the above-range microwave. Not that we have anything against them (I actually hate seeing microwaves sitting out on counters), but if you look at the before picture, you can see that the clearance between the stove and the bottom of the microwave was pitiful, a measly 12 inches! 12 INCHES!! Can you believe that? We opted for a vent-less range hood instead since we already owned a countertop microwave anyway.

Finally, here’s another project I’ve been working on for most of the time we’ve lived here, and I still have a little work to do…

I’m about 20 weeks along with baby #3 (we haven’t found out the gender yet). I’m due February 5th and will be very excited to bring this baby home to a carpet-free house (can you tell I’m super excited about the laminate??). Through all the tiredness and sickness I’ve been trying really hard to keep up with this blog so please know that each page view and comment is VERY much appreciated! 🙂

BTW- {here’s} a post about maternity pictures, it was actually my most viewed post last year! It gives you some ideas for poses, and some tips for taking your own (or having a friend take them!) and saving lots of money! 🙂
