My son LOVES Curious George, or as he likes to call him, “Choo-Chi” (where do kids come up with this stuff??). Anyway, although there are a couple of other things that my son is quite enamored with (cars, rubber duckies), I envisioned him getting excited over seeing his beloved “Choo-Chi” on a “nummy” and it just made me smile every time, so ultimately, that’s the theme I decided to go with. I knew that my limited cake decorating skills did not extend to making my own Curious George figure out of something like fondant or modeling chocolate, so I got busy trying to find a cake topper, or any small Curious George toy that I could place on top. Apparently, this is easier said than done, at least where I live. I had resigned myself to the fact that I would have to order something online and pay for shipping, when I finally found a cake topper at a specialty cake store in my area. Hallelujah!
The cake is chocolate, with a peanut butter filling, and covered in marshmallow fondant. I knew my son wold basically like anything, and who doesn’t like the classic chocolate-peanut butter flavor combination?
