Howdy y’all! We’re gearing up over here for my kiddo’s combined cowboy and cowgirl birthday party in just a couple weeks. I am so excited for this party theme and have been doing a lot of it in DIY style. I finished up their invitations and I love the way they turned out! Even though it’s not a printable I’m providing on the blog, I still wanted to share these western party invites. Best of all? I didn’t even use a fancy photo-editing software. I simple made these in Microsoft Word!

how to make your own western party invites

As I was planning these out I tried to think of a way to give both my little ones a moment in the spotlight. I didn’t want to print them back and front, because then someone might only see one side. All in all, I think these are a great way to do it. Trying to be frugal and keep costs down, I just printed up two per page on standard white cardstock. Then I inked the edges and colored in a few of the letters with blue and red colored pencils. I like the simple look of them and they fit perfectly with our party theme! (As always, personal details have been edited out.)

You could also print these up on Kraft paper or textured cardstock and that would be super cute too! The envelopes I used for these western party invites are just standard 6×9″ manila envelopes. We hand-delivered our invites, but keep in mind that if your manila envelopes have metal clasps on them it adds to your mailing costs. Otherwise a 6×9″ size is the regular first-class rate! Just a little tip from me to you.

Fonts I used are all free downloads and are:

  • GoldRush
  • Thunderbird
  • Playbill
  • My Own Topher
  • YeeHaw (horse silhouettes)
