I feel like it has been way too long since I posted a tasty recipe and I was past due for one. I checked my archives, and I was right, it has been way too long since I posted some type of dessert. Well, that oversight is fixed today. These easy and delicious peppermint bark brownies are my way of making it up to you. However, since it’s not very practical to actually make them and send them to all of you, all I can do is offer you pictures and a recipe. Which, on the plus side, means zero calories.

The base of these brownies is just your favorite brownie recipe. Now, I was out of brownie mix when I made these and I was too lazy to drive to the store for one thing. So, I made these from scratch–which is a rarity around here–but you could of course use your favorite store-bought brownie mix.  I won’t tell anyone, wink wink.

what makes these brownies special

After you’ve baked your brownies you let them cool completely. Then, sprinkle crushed candy canes on top. For a 9 x 13″ pan, two to three candy canes are the perfect amount. To really take these peppermint bark brownies up a notch, melt some white and milk chocolate and drizzle over the top. Once the chocolate has hardened, you’re done! What a festive and easy treat to bring to a holiday party this year!

I know, right? There's a such a short window where treats like this are acceptable. For example, you might get strange looks if you made it for Easter. 🙂

These look so good! I feel like putting drizzle on top of any kind of brownie or bar cookie just makes it taste (and look) so much better. Plus…chocolate. So there’s that. 😉
