On Monday Musings I’ve talked about some serious and personal things so far.
I’ve talked about my weight gain and loss through three babies.
I revealed how I really feel about being pregnant again.
I’ve shared what a day in my life is like.
And I also reminisced a little about my wedding.
So I thought this month I’d talk about something a little more lighthearted.
Like the time I was in the back of a cop car.
I should provide a little bit of background that growing up I was pretty much the opposite of a “problem child” or rebel. In high school I never cut class. I never went to crazy parties. I was on swim team. I was in the performance choir. I went to early morning religious seminary classes before school for four years.
So let’s talk about how, in my Junior year of high school, I wound up at a street concert in the middle of LA…
… and then got my wrists zip tied and stuffed into the back of a cop car.
This is something that the majority of my friends from “back then” know about, but most people that have just gotten to know me over the past few years would probably be really surprised to hear this about me.
It’s just not something I usually talk about, I mean, how do you really go about bringing something like this up?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m so proud, proud that I set out to try and accomplish a little something and I actually achieved it.
I’ll be so excited someday to be able to tell my children about this experience and hopefully I’ll be “the cool mom” in their eyes.
This should probably be when I tell you…
Hi, my name is Justine and I used to have an agent.
And one of the few jobs I ever got (out of who knows how many auditions I went on) was being handpicked by a certain musical artist that hails from Canada to be a lead in one of her music videos.
And walk away with a story to tell my kids and grandchildren someday.
Seriously though. I have so many positive and lasting memories from the different shoots that I did and I will forever be grateful for those experiences!
And if you have some free time you should check the video out on YouTube and play the “how many second-long shots is Justine in” game.
Maybe someday I’ll tell you how much ended up on the cutting room floor…
Bet you thought that was going to be some super scandalous story, didn’t you? 😉

Wow, you have lived a very full life so far…great post! Thanks for sharing!
Valerie
LOL, thanks Valerie, I've definitely had some fun experiences. 🙂
You're definitely the cool mom in my eyes! How fun, and what a great story to tell your kids someday 🙂
OMGSH! I love Avril Lavigne! This was a fun post to read; I was about to be shocked that you ever got arrested?! Glad to know it was just for a music video. 🙂
That was pretty tricky how you led us on that little goose chase. Still such a fun story to tell your kids and grandkids!
Haha that's really funny. The sad thing is, your kids won't know who the heck Avril Lavigne is.
This is the best story ever!!!
I was secretly thinking you had a deep dark side and there was some crazy twisted story about to be set free.. But this is even better! Look at you all famous hanging out with Avril!
I am googling right now and doing the seconds count :)!
Oh my goodness! I was reading this with such intensity and confusion until I got to the "I use to have an agent" part. I can breathe again. LOL. This gave me a chuckle. Such a cool story!
I used to be such a big Avril Lavigne fan when I was 12! That is such a cool experience!
Oh wow! This is awesome. I was a huge Avril Lavigne fan when she first came out. How neat to be on video set. I love how you told this story!
Great post you had me there lol
How rad is this!!? I'm totally going on Youtube after this and looking for you in the video!! Very cool!!
Haha, true. They'll probably just think I'm even more lame. 🙂
LOL Holly, nope, pretty much beyond normal… at least, as far as people know. 😉
Just don't blink or you'll miss me Ashleigh. 🙂 Seriously, you're on set for hours and you think you're going to be in all these parts, and then you see the finished thing and you're like, "wow I'm glad I spend 12 hours on set for 12 seconds of on screen time"
Haha Heather, glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
I know, totally loved her, although it's funny because when I first got this part I hadn't heard any of her songs yet so I rushed right out and bought her CD. 🙂
Yep, just for a video, lol. I also got trampled in a mosh pit on a dirty LA street. Ah, the things we do for "fame". 😉
Aw, thanks Nina! 🙂
haha that was amazing! You definitely got me for a second there. haha I'll have to check that video again! 🙂
Are you kidding?! This is awesome! You're like a real life celebrity! 🙂 Total cool mom! Great story.
haha! You were definitely a star. I remember while living in UT, my husband had an agent and did a few shoots and video and every once in a while someone will say, "hey, I saw you in this or that"– Hethought he was cool!
Haha, I actually had some friends of a friend want to take a picture with me once, I thought it was a little weird, but I went with it. 🙂
Wow! Must be nice to be in a piece of content that probably was seen by so many people, and will last quite a bit as well. Think that in a hundred years, maybe someone has an archive with that video and you're on it!
What a cool story!! Not at all what I expected! Lol
LOL, thanks. 🙂
