I love when kids are young and they are at the age where they actually still want to help. There’s a sweet spot where you’ve got to instill in them good work ethic to set them up for success later in life. I currently have four kids under the age of six and I’m too busy for my kids not to be helping when they can. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years with my children it’s that they need regular incentives. And that’s okay! Incentives make the world go ’round. Today I’m sharing a fun printable chore chart with incentives for kids. This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are completely my own.

Oftentimes we’ll make charts for them to earn something that they really want. My children love working towards their goals but at such a young age sometimes they can seem too far away and it’s hard for their little minds to stay focused when it seems like they’ll never get there. That’s where a small, daily incentive while they’re working towards their bigger goal comes in. A great option is Extra gum because it’s sugar free and my kids love it!

When I designed this printable chore chart there were a couple of goals I had. One was for it to be a blank slate for my kids to color and have fun with. I also thought it would be a great chance for my son to practice his writing. I’m so proud of the job he did filling out the dates of the month, he’s grown so much this year! Lastly, I wanted it to be customizable for different ability levels or what our schedules were like each day. For example, I knew we had a couple days that we were going to be out of town and  some birthdays in May so I made the chore load lighter on those days.

chores for preschool kids:

Are you at a loss as to what chores your littlest ones can do? Here are some ideas my own kids are capable of doing and enjoy even when they’re young:

  • Making their beds
  • Setting the table
  • Helping you unload the dishwasher
  • Putting away their clean (and folded) clothes
  • Dusting
  • Vacuuming (my kids love using the attachment to get under the couch!)
  • Picking up their toys
  • Watering the plants

What a fun idea to tie in the incentive with the chart printable! I agree with you on incentives, we’ve been teaching my son to get ready in the morning with an incentive. My plan is to incentivize until it becomes a habit. Then we will incentivize something else and try to teach him to continue the habit he’s learned + learn something new and get rewarded.

What a great idea! I’m BIG on incentives for littles to see the reward in doing work. And I totally agree that even as adults we rely on incentives to get things done! #client
