Summer 2016 bucket list

Happy Monday and happy Memorial Day, I hope you all are enjoying your long weekend! Memorial Day is one of those holidays that I love for what it means. There can never be enough thanks for those who have lost their lives protecting our country and our freedom. I also love Memorial Day because I always see it as the unofficial start of summer. Today I’m sharing a fun printable summer bucket list for you to get the fun going!

Summer 2016 bucket list

I know that summer technically doesn’t start late June and it ends in late September. However, the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day is the time frame that I give us to complete our summer bucket list. That tends to be when the weather is nice enough and other activities (school, sports, etc.) have slowed down enough for us to have summer fun. Like I have in previous years, I’m sharing a free printable with you in case you want to make your own! I left some blanks so you could fill it in appropriately with places near you and things you’d like to do.

Summer 2016 bucket list

The main reason I like to create a checklist is to make sure that we get to do all the things we want to do. Summer goes by so quickly and it’s inevitable that we’ll get to the last week or two of summer and realize that many things have gone undone. When we have a handy checklist it’s a good reminder of the fun we want to have all summer long! By printing up a coloring page and leaving blank spots for you to customize it gets the kids involved!

You are so right–Memorial Day is definitely the unofficial start to summer (so why doesn’t my community pool open for 3 more weeks?! They need to get with the program! Haha). What a fun list! And I love that it’s printable 🙂

Ugh, 3 more weeks?! I’m sorry!! Hopefully you can find some other summer things to do in the meantime. 🙂

Sounds like a fun summer bucket list! Hope you get to complete it all.

    xoxo, Jenny

Me too! Last year since I was in my last trimester with my fourth baby we didn’t get everything done on our list, but hopefully this summer will go better. 🙂

This is so cool! While my husband and I don’t have kids yet, I think this list is even awesome for adults too. It’s easy to get into a daily rut and forget to get outside and enjoy your city/state. I could see myself making a few tweaks to this printable and actually getting outside this summer! 🙂

I agree, it’s good to plan fun things and date your spouse too! Exploring your town is always great, oftentimes we don’t do things that are right in our own backyard!

That list is so cute! I’m so glad it’s finally summertime.

That’s so cute. I need to put ” rest and relax” on my summer bucket list cause I will be working, working, working!!

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 30, 2016 at 3:47 pm #

Oh my gosh, yes. I should have put that. lol. Although, with four little kids that doesn’t seem to happen often! Thanks for stopping by!

We’re going on a road trip with the kids this year. I can’t wait!! So glad summer finally arrived.

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 30, 2016 at 3:46 pm #

I know, it took me awhile to warm up to winter being over (and we didn’t get much of a spring here), but I am super excited for summer and all its awesomeoness now!

I love a good bucket list! How do you set up your outdoor theater? A sheet? I would love to do that but dont know any of the logistics.

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 30, 2016 at 3:52 pm #

I’m not sure yet! Our town has them in the park every week in the summer, but I really want to rig something up in our yard. I’ve seen some tutorials on Pinterest… one side of our house just has one teeny tiny window and the house color is so light I *think* we might just be able to project it up there. We’ll see!

If your road trip takes you to Toronto, there are lots of great opportunities for outdoors movies. Trinity Bellwoods Park often shows fun films on a big screen outdoors in the summertime 🙂

I wish! I’d love to go someday! Our town actually has them once a week in the summer, but I really want to try and rig something up in our yard.

So I read this as swim in homemade ice cream hahah. Seems like a summer of adventure and smiles. I would love to go to a drive in this summer.

I love reading other people’s bucket lists. I made a similar list recently on my blog. Thanks for sharing.

This is really cute! Homemade ice cream would be so delicious and fun to do. Great idea!

I love a good bucket list! We are about to knock one off our list this weekend as we leave for a road trip! I love summer and having more flexibility to spend time with the kids now that school is out!

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 30, 2016 at 11:14 pm #

I agree, the carefree(ish), flexible days are the best! Have fun on your trip!

looks like a good summer list. My wife and I already have a list for us and our daughter, which includes creating a bench and a small indoor tent for my daughter.

  14. Hil May 30, 2016 at 6:32 pm #

I would add go for a picnic too!! I love going for picnics with my kids. We camp each summer for a few weekends though 🙂

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 30, 2016 at 11:12 pm #

That is such a good one! I know, after I was done making my list I was like, “oh I didn’t put X, Y, and Z”. Oh well, bonus items! 🙂

  15. Jenn May 30, 2016 at 7:55 pm #

These are so super great ideas!! I am looking forward to going to the drive in and camping. I love to spend as much time outside as possible! This was so great, thanks for sharing.

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 30, 2016 at 11:13 pm #

We used to love goign to the drive in when we lived in Lubbock, TX. we just had a newborn and it was the perfect date night!

I have wanted to make homemade rootbeer for a while now. I guess now is as good a time as ever to make a summer bucket list and add it!

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 30, 2016 at 11:11 pm #

It’s so yummy (tons of sugar, lol) and so fun for the kids to watch (we use the dry ice method).

  17. Stefanie (@LexieLooDylan2) May 31, 2016 at 2:48 pm #

I love it! The list my kids made is very similar!

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 31, 2016 at 5:32 pm #

I can’t wait until my kids are old enough to make the list with me. Whenever I try to ask them what they want to do now their only response is “swim”, lol.

  18. Amber May 31, 2016 at 2:49 pm #

Blowing bubbles and coloring with chalk is always fun.

    • Justine @ Little Dove May 31, 2016 at 5:43 pm #

Yes, sometimes I forget about the simplest activities so I always have to include them! My kids love doing those things!

  19. Jazmine May 31, 2016 at 5:19 pm #

Sounds like you’re going to be having a fun summer. Great looking list.

  20. Glenda Kruse May 31, 2016 at 5:38 pm #

All the above sounds like things I would like to do too! 😀

  21. Jennifer Corter May 31, 2016 at 6:17 pm #

What an awesome bucket list, I love it! Thanks for the printable! This will give me something to do with my son after he gets out of school next week!
