We’re in the process of remodeling our master bathroom and I. Am. So. Excited. Seriously. So excited. We’re going to have a rain head in our shower y’all. Did I mention I was so excited? But I digress. Today I have a very simple master bedroom update to share. If you’re into saving some money by being crafty, check out how I did this simple nightstand update.
DIY-ing a simple nightstand update
Our master bedroom has also been in the slow process of being remodeled over the past several months. We have done some updates to this room since moving in. For example, new floors, new doors, and new paint. Actually, two rounds of new paint. Oy vey. However, for the most part it was a dumping ground of leftovers and a home of “what will work for now?” And as lovely of a statement that has been, I have really been in the need of an oasis for some time now.

One of those “what will work for now?” solutions was some inexpensive nightstands from Walmart that we picked up a little while after moving in. These are our first actual nightstands we ever had since getting married. Yes, it’s true, we had never had nightstands before these, we had just used little folding trays. But we are adults, and were in need of something with some actual storage for all our nighttime reading and gold doubloons. So when we saw these nightstands on clearance at Walmart we were like, “that’ll do”.
how to save money with this simple update
And it did. Does. Do. Whatever. But I knew that I could spruce them up somehow, I just wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do until a few weeks ago.

I decided to use some pages to decorate the front of the drawers for an easy update. Books are near and dear to my heart so it seemed like appropriate décor for our master bedroom.

Believe it or not, this project actually took shorter than the book page pumpkins did. It was one of those naptime projects that makes you feel really accomplished afterwards. After I was finished with the decoupage on the drawer fronts I took off the old knobs and replaced them with this beauties.
I used more of the book pages from my pumpkin project and I already had the new knobs (I had bought them awhile ago specifically for these nightstands) so this makeover cost me absolutely nothing. You know, technically. Whoop whoop, you’ve got to love projects like that, huh?!
I am really pleased with how they turned out and hope that this will get the ball rolling on more of the master bedroom projects. I think next up should be a new ceiling fan…
What about you? Is your bedroom the one space that gets left behind? Working on any projects to spruce it up lately?

This is really cute! I love just changing the knobs on pieces of furniture. It’s a great way to give them a face lift without spending a ton of time or money. 🙂
This is so brilliant! I love doing little DIY projects, I’m going to keep this one for later. Thanks!
Thanks so much for your sweet comment!

Oooh, I love a good remodel project. Excited to see what you do to your bathroom!
Thank you! I can’t wait to share it!!
This came out great! I love the pop of color on the drawer pull.
Cute! I love how different they look after just a small change! Our bedroom is majorly neglected. I spent all my time and energy designing my son’s nursery when we moved in (so it looks great!) but our master bedroom definitely needs some help! This project is inspiring me to go work on our room!
I know, I always focus so much on my kiddos’ rooms! Hope you get to work on your master soon!
Cute!! I definitely need to work on our bedroom! 😳 But unfortunately basically our whole house needs a fresh coat of paint. It’s too drab and dark and *beige* right now! Thanks for the inspiration! xx
This is just too cute! I love a good DIY and I will have to give this a try I love the look!
Love how you updated the night stand and added the a pop of color.
This is super cute! I have only tried a project like this once and to be honest it didn’t go nearly this well lol
