Cliche Valentine gifts that aren't so cliche

If you’ve been a reader for awhile than you know I love any holiday and excuse to celebrate! Valentine’s Day has always been a fun one, no matter how many people want to claim it’s a holiday created by greeting card companies.

Don’t be haters y’all.

I’m not gonna lie though, some gifts are so cliché that they kind of bug me. After all, it’s the thought that counts so let’s put some thoughts into our gifts, shall we? Today I’m sharing some “cliché” gifts that aren’t so cliché after all, including a simple and fun diy for the whole family to enjoy! You won’t find any gold heart pendants or red roses in this roundup! Some links contain affiliates; as always, all opinions are completely my own. I never recommend products or places I don’t love!

Jewelry

JORD

I’ve mentioned JORD several times on the blog and I still love them just as much as I did when I first shared their company with you! I love their unique wooden watches and feel like they make the perfect gift for just about any occasion. They’re beautiful and comfortable and would make any gal (or guy) smile on Valentine’s Day. Not sure what style watch they’ll like the most? JORD also offers gift cards that can be sent physically or digitally in any amount!

Rocksbox

If you haven’t heard of Rocksbox yet, where have you been?! Rocksbox is a jewelry subscription service that allows you to try out three pieces of designer jewelry at a time. I have become slightly addicted over the last few months as I’ve had a subscription and love having new happy mail a couple times a month! Rocksbox also gives you the ability to gift a subscription with 3, 6, and 12 month plans available. It’s the perfect gift for the girl who has every piece of jewelry under the sun or if you’re just not sure what her style is.

Made By Meg

I shared Made by Meg  with y’all during my blogiversary giveaway last year but I wanted t be sure to mention her again! Her seaglass creations are miniature works of art and she offers custom work as well. I love when jewelry has a meaningful story behind it and I feel like by purchasing something from her shop you’re really giving someone a thoughtful piece with a great story as well. I’m especially fond of her state necklaces and love that you can customize the color of the glass.

Flowers

Eco Flowers

I stumbled across Eco Flowers on Instagram one day and instantly wish they had been around when I got married almost 10 years ago. They are a company that makes beautiful bouquets and home décor out of recycled materials. I love receiving fresh flowers from my sweetheart, but I also really love the idea of giving someone beautiful florals that will never die.

Magnolia Market

If you know a person that loves Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna, and all things shiplap, then it’s pretty much a guarantee that they’d be the happiest person ever to receive a real magnolia wreath from the silos for Valentine’s Day. Magnolia Market not only offers their signature magnolia wreath, but several other lovely wreaths and floral stems as well; the cotton wreath is another one I have my eye on.

Lovely Retro Renos

Here’s another company I shared with you during my blogiversary. Lovely Retro Renos creates beautiful state silhouettes (and some other items too) embellished with floral watercolors. Here is another opportunity to give a meaningful gift this Valentine’s Day by gifting a state that holds significance for your sweetheart. And you can personalize it even more by choosing flowers or colors that you know the recipient loves.

Chocolate

Chocolatier Programs

As I was doing research for this post (yes, bloggers do research) I was looking into different chocolate making programs. Imagine my surprise when  I discovered that there are many that offer online courses! Rather than gifting some chocolate, why not gift some chocolatier courses to your favorite chef or baker? Just do a quick online search for “chocolate making” or “chocolatier”.

Chocolate Fondue

When my husband and I got married he told me that he cared about two things–one of those things was that he wanted a chocolate fountain. So we’re big lovers of chocolate fondue in our house and I know my hubby would love this gifted to him for Valentine’s Day! Whether you decide to take your sweetheart out for a special dinner, or you want to buy your own set to try at home, chocolate fondue is a great (and delicious) gift for Valentine’s Day!

DIY Chocolate Countdown

My last idea for a non-cliché gift is a diy chocolate countdown, think of it as an advent for Valentine’s Day. This gift is one that’s not only perfect for your biggest sweetheart, but all your little mini sweethearts as well. For the supplies for this project I participated in Stephanie from Wife Mommy Me’s $10 at Target challenge. It’s pretty much how it sounds–you spend $10 at Target; which we all know can be a pretty big challenge (not to spend $10, but to only spend $10). I already had the paper bags and jute, so I purchased two bags of Valentine’s Day candy and some festive clothespins (courtesy of Target’s Dollar Spot) and got to work!

In addition to adding candies to each bag to give your sweetheart 14 days of chocolates instead of just one, you could also include some love notes or small gifts if you wanted. Nothing says I love you more than more presents, right??

Just kidding!

I must admit, the tax did me in and I ended up spending $10.30. However, I’m still going to call it a win.

All right, a win with an asterisk.

Win*

Have you been able to restrain yourself around the Dollar Spot? It’s so hard to say no to their cute holiday décor!
What cliché or non-cliché gift are you hoping for this year?
