Spring is in full-force, Easter is almost here, and ’tis the season for all things chocolate and bunnies. What better way to showcase those sugary cuties then in a mason jar? I love simple snacks and crafts. I’ve said before that I like to “walk the line between simple and spectacular”. This DIY candy terrarium is not only super simple to make, but they double as décor and a fun Easter treat! Your kids will love making them, looking at them, and eating them.

how to make a candy terrarium

Once you’ve gathered up your supplies making a candy terrarium is super simple. In fact, it will be hard to just make one or two! So why not make some for neighbors or teachers for a fun treat? The mason jar is the perfect way to present for gift giving too. I’ve learned that everything is better in a mason jar. Everything tastes better, everything looks better, and everything exudes more awesomeness when it’s presented in jar form. True story.

materials needed:

  • pint or quart sized mason jars with lids
  • various Easter candy
  • chocolate bunnies and/or marshmallow bunnies or chicks
  • green apple licorice or edible Easter grass
  • ribbon or twine

The bottom layer in the mason jar should be your green licorice or edible Easter grass. You could even go one step further and start with crushed cookies for “dirt” or candy rocks. Then place your candy bunnies or chicks in with their little candy Easter eggs. Remember that sometimes less is more! I think generally speaking that one larger candy bunny or chick is good. Finish off your jar with a little jute or ribbon and you’re good to go!
