Happy date night lovely friends! What do you have planned for this weekend with your sweetheart? Anything fun? Mike and I often like to keep it simple with dinner and a movie for our weekly date night. So today I have a review of Studio Movie Grill–a fun option for a dinner and movie! This post was sponsored by Studio Movie Grill and I was compensated for my honest review. As always, all opinions are my own and I only share products or companies I love!
why choose Studio Movie Grill?
One of the biggest date night hurdles for Mike and myself seems to be the babysitting issue. With so many young children it can be hard to find sitters. And expensive! This is where Studio Movie Grill comes in. They’re a chain of movie theaters that offer an in-theater dining experience–and I’m not just talking about buttered popcorn.

The idea of being able to enjoy dinner and a movie with my sweetheart and not have to book a babysitter for a five hour block of time was definitely appealing, especially to my wallet. But I was curious if Studio Movie Grill would actually live up to the hype. Was the food really going to be good? Would the servers delivering the orders be distracting during the movie? How did this all work? I was anxious to find out and have a fun date night with my hubby that didn’t feel rushed for once.
Studio Movie Grill makes date night easy
One of the best things about Studio Movie Grill is that you order your tickets ahead of time. The tickets are seat-specific too, which I love! That means that you can get the seat that you want without having to show up to the theater super early.

When you purchase your tickets you’ll be sent an email with your confirmation. You can either print it out or just show on your phone when you arrive at the theater. You’ll scan your confirmation on their kiosks and your tickets will print up, easy peasy! You also have the option of purchasing your tickets at the box office if you prefer. Studio Movie Grill has a great front lounge area that’s the perfect spot to hang out or meet friends while you’re waiting for your movie.
what you’ll experience
Just like any other theater you’ll be able to enjoy some fun ads and previews before the show starts. And don’t worry, the picture above was taken during an ad, not the movie! The bonus here though, is during the trailers you can be enjoying delicious foods and beverages. Studio Movie Grill recommends that you arrive 15-20 minutes early. That way you can find your seats and start ordering some delicious food. You can order as much as you want via the button located at each seat–and they’ll continue to bring it throughout the movie. Keep in mind, they’ll bring final checks long before the end of the movie, so plan accordingly.

Serving the food was the part that concerned me the most. After all, wouldn’t it be super distracting if servers were walking in front of you the whole time? However, Mike and I both agree that you barely even notice it. If definitely didn’t feel like it took anything away from our movie experience. And being able to enjoy a great meal while you’re watching the newest blockbuster on a big screen more than makes up for it. We’ve been able to sample quite a few items from their menu and everything we’ve tried was delicious. From the stacked nachos, to the coconut chicken & shrimp, to the blackened chicken pasta. The desserts are incredible too, with offerings such as frozen hot chocolate, Nutella beignets, and New York style cheesecake.

final thoughts
So, if you’re like us and one of your date night hurdles is not wanting to pay an arm and a leg for a babysitter then give Studio Movie Grill a try. You can enjoy a delicious dinner in a state of the art theater while watching the latest blockbuster in two hours instead of five. Both Mike and I can’t wait to go back for another date night soon! What’s your excuse for not having date night now?!

My husband and I tried the studio movie Grill in Orem when we lived in Farmington, and we absolutely loved it. We are so glad that we actually live near another one here in Texas, and we are going to have a date there next week.
Dinner and a movie? Sounds like my ideal date night! And I hear you on the babysitters! We are also lucky that our parents are close by to help out!
Aw I love this. And I enjoy going to Studio Movie Grill with my husband on a date night or by going with all the kids. It’s a two-in-one deal. You get to eat and watch a movie all at the same time
What a great date night! I wish there was one near me!
We have something similar here in canada! I haven’t gone her but this post reminded me of it !
This sounds like such a fun date night! I agree that it can be so hard to find a sitter to watch the kids if you want to do more than one activity, but this makes it so much more convenient! Too bad they don’t have one of these near us. 🙁
This place seems like the perfect date place. I wish they had locations in Las Vegas.
What a fun date night! We love that place!
Sounds like a fun date night! I wish we had one of these in our area. Also, love the outfit you wore!!

I love movie theaters where you can eat at the same time. Such a fun concept!
Aww that would be so fun to try!
Aaah this looks so fun! I love the dinner & a movie thing. My husband and I used to do that all the time before our 1st baby. Now with baby #2 due any day now we’ll have to plan some date ideas for the future!
Very cool! What a great idea! I wish we had one near us!
I’ve always wanted to go to one of these places but I always thought that it would be distracting! I’m so glad to hear that it wasn’t!
