Is one of your goals for for this year to be more organized? To focus on the important things? To have a daily devotional? If you answered yes to any of these things then I’ve got a DIY for you that you just might be interested in. I actually made a handful of these boards for Christmas presents and finally got around to finishing one for us! I’ll share the materials you need for this DIY verse of the week board and show you how perfect it is to adapt to your needs!
how to make a “verse of the week” board
materials needed:
- board of desired size
- stain or paint
- bulldog clip and hardware to attach
- chalkboard paint
Start this verse of the week project by painting or staining your board. Once it is completely dry you can tape off the area you want to apply the chalkboard paint. You’ll need to brush on several thin layers to get the best coverage. Wait at least 24 hours before you write on the chalkboard paint with chalk. I recommend applying the chalkboard paint before attaching your clip so it’s not in your way.

When I made these boards for family members I stenciled on the words “verse of the week”, but when I was finishing my own board I got the idea to use chalkboard paint instead. That way if I ever wanted to change what I used the board for (Posting our weekly meals? Sharing our school schedule?) I could easily change what it said on top!

What a fantastic and creative idea! I love this, I definitely will make one for my kitchen!
It looks so good! So pretty and practical for holding the verse!
OH my goodness. I love the simplicity and brilliance of this idea. Almost such that I had thought of it. I LOVE having quotes around me but never buy any since I am sure I will get bored on the same soon. But this is a GREAT Idea. Thanks for sharing 🙂
What a pretty addition to a household. You could make one that is more child themed, and it would be a great addition to a kid’s room or nursery. 🙂
Ooh. I like this idea. I might have to make one.
This is beautiful! I love the natural style! 🙂
Another great idea! I’m so glad I came across your blog! I am totally going to do this too!
What color of stain did you use? I love how earthy it looks.
Thank you!! Unfortunately, I honestly can’t remember as this was a couple years ago. So Sorry I couldn’t be more help!
