I tend to have overachiever tendencies, especially pre-kids when I had more time. To illustrate–I was once dating someone and for a gift I made him our own version of the Clue board game. All the rooms were places we’d gone together and all the pawns were our friends. You know, now that I’m typing that it seems a lot creepier than it did at the time. Anyway, where were we–oh yeah, classic board games. This post contains affiliate links, all opinions are my own.
our favorite classic board games
My husband and I love playing board games together. We’ve devoted far too much of our storage space to housing everything from Battleship, to Settlers of Catan.
If you’re looking for a new game to play as a family or for your next at home date night why mot give one of these a try? These classic board games that have been updated with a fun twist will quickly become your new favorite.
Speaking of games, have you ever seen the movie Clue? It is a family favorite! Although there are many good comedies out there, today I’m sharing what is one of my absolute favorite comedies.
clue
Made in 1985 Clue is a whodunit murder mystery comedy. Did you even know that was a thing?! Based on the classic Hasbro board game it features the rooms and characters you’re already familiar with. Truth be told, I actually found out that it’s billed online as being a murder mystery. However, if you give it a chance I think you’ll agree that it has you laughing all the way through.
Clue stars Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, and Christopher Lloyd, among others. It follows the dinner guests of a mysterious host at a mysterious mansion. Fun fact, when it was first released in theaters it ran with three different endings that were played at random! In fact, the home theatrical release shows all three alternate endings one right after the other. My kids think it’s lots of fun! I would venture to guess that most of you haven’t heard of it, let alone seen it. However, I promise if you enjoy some “who’s on first” style humor you’ll get a kick out of watching one of your favorite board games played out on screen.

We love the move Clue. It’s great fun. Our DVD let’s you either pick random ending and then it decides or you can pick play all and it will show all the endings. My kids love the movie as well. It’s our family scary not scary movie.

Ok, The Golden Girls and Clue together? Sounds like a match made in heaven to me! 🙂
It was only a year or two ago that I saw Clue for the first time. It’s a funny movie, and the board game is a family favorite.

Would you believe that I’ve never played CLUE? But I do love board games – we also have tons of them here!
I’ve seen this movie but it was a long time ago! I need to watch it again. I love playing both board games and card games with my husband, although I refuse to play Monopoly with him.
