SOLO Device and the Hot Car Safety Act

I’ve recently learned about the SOLO Device and I want to share it with you. SOLO stands for “Save Our Loved Ones” and it is a life sensor technology. Although it’s not on the market for purchase yet hopefully with the Hot Car Act that will change. We’ve all heard the tragic stories of children left in cars that are too hot. Did you know that 80% of total heat rise in a car occurs within the first 30 minutes? I had no idea!

The SOLO device is a small device that can be hidden in your current vehicle. Once it is installed it will use pulse radar technology of the to sense small respiratory movements. Whether you’re traveling or running errands, if your child is left in a car and the device detects movement or respiration, protocol will begin. Horn and lights will send an SOS and windows will roll down; it can even send text messages! You can click here to learn more and sign a letter to your congressman.

first aid

Much like the SOLO Device I mentioned, a first aid kit is something that you hope you never need but definitely don’t want to be without. You can buy a kit that’s already put together or assemble one yourself that’s tailored to your needs. Basic supplies like band aids, antiseptic ointment, and ibuprofen are probably sufficient. Consider feminine hygiene products, antibacterial soap, and wipes too for those “just in case” moments.

Trust me when I say—you never want to be stranded somewhere. Roadside assistance is always a great option but you can’t necessarily depend on cell phone reception or the assistance of others. We keep a small jumper in our car at all times and it has been a life saver more than once. It is so compact that it fits in the storage compartment of the driver’s side door. Yet it it can jump our car at least twice on a single charge. It gives us great peace of mind to not have to rely on a stranger to stop and help. Just be sure to check the charge periodically so you’re always ready.

You never know when you might be stranded somewhere and when that happens you want to ease the stress for kids as much as possible. Having snacks and water in the car are great for when everyone starts to get a little hangry. Especially when the temperatures start to rise, having enough water on hand and the SOLO Device (not yet available for purchase) can work together to help keep your loved ones safe.

Have you heard of the SOLO Device or the Hot Car Act yet? Do you have any travel safety tips?

Great tips for those of us planning our spring and summer trips. I haven’t heard of the SOLO device before but it sounds like it’s a great product, especially for new parents that aren’t used to having a little person go everywhere with them. We have a small jumper like yours in our car and it’s so nice to have for those unexpected times you need it. During the winter we keep blankets in our car just incase and during the summer we always have sunscreen and bug spray in the car so we are ready for any adventure.
