I am so excited to be sharing the first part of our giant office remodel with you today! And no, this isn’t another trick or announcement. This remodel has been months in the making and that’s because we knew exactly what we wanted. Today I’m sharing with you why we chose to have a wall bed installed in our home office. I’m also talking about why we decided to go with our local Wallbeds n More location in Rocklin, California. Read through the end for a special deal they’re offering my readers! This post in in collaboration with Wallbeds n More in Rocklin, California. Although we received a discount we did a lot of research and all opinions are my own.

Why you should consider a wallbed

what we needed from our office remodel

Early on in the planning of this office remodel we knew we needed a multi-functional room. We needed an office where both Mike and I could work (since I’m temporarily giving up that space for baby number six). The office also needed to function as a homeschool room, which means I needed storage and desk space for more than one kid at a time. However, we also needed to have some type of guest space. Even with 4,000 square feet there just weren’t enough rooms to have a dedicated space for each of those.

So the challenge was how could we arrange all the furniture that we needed for those functions? We knew pretty early on we wanted to get a wallbed for the room—it seemed like the perfect solution! That led to a lot of research on different manufacturers and distributors. When we found Wallbeds n More in Rocklin we knew we had found a quality distributor. The fact that they were local was even better!

A visit to their showroom at 4415 Granite Drive in Rocklin, California can seem a little overwhelming at first. There are so many different styles of wallbeds that serve so many different functions! Did we want a desk style? A simple bed that could just fold up? Or a library style with lots of shelving?

Luckily, Laurie was there with us every step of the way. She helped us evaluate our needs, gave us her honest opinion on the quality of the different manufacturers that they worked with, and made sure we were happy with our finishes.

Ultimately we picked the wallbed that we knew would be the perfect addition to our office. Not only will it provide a lot of storage, but it also puts the mattress on a wood slate base rather than solid wood. I’m hoping that will help ensure that our guests have very sweet dreams when they stay with us. One of the best parts about modern-day Murphy beds is that you can use any mattress (under a certain height) that you want so it’s as comfortable as any other bed in your home!

To see which wallbed we chose and the finished result of our office remodel be sure to check back next week!
