Aww–sweet, sweet Summertime. Even as a homeschool mom it’s my favorite. I’m so thankful my kiddos are done with their on-site classes. Being able to be much more relaxed about our studies, not having to drive the kiddos to their on-site classes… it’s great. Plus, we’re lucky that we live in an area where it doesn’t get super humid and there’s a ton to do outside. Northern California is so gorgeous! And I know my kiddos can’t wait for our pool to get warm enough to jump in (and neither can I)! The only thing I don’t like is the dreaded “Summer slide”. Today I’m sharing some Summer writing prompts that you can use to help your child practice their writing skills during the break.

I am much more relaxed about our homeschool lessons in the Summer. We tend to stick with field trips and vacations as learning experiences. However, the older my kids get the more I recognize that they need to be working on their writing skills. It really helps build a solid foundation for other subjects. There are three Summer writing prompts–one each for June, July, and August. You can use them with your child as a Summer journal of sorts.

These would also be good for busy work in the car if you have any fun road trips planned! I always try to plan some schoolwork for the car that’s easy for them to do on their own. Trust me–there is nothing more frustrating than trying to teach a new concept from the front seat.
I would love it if you pinned this post for later and shared it with friends!
