Last weekend our family went to Rush Creek Lodge for a little weekend trip. It was the perfect fall getaway, especially with everything going on this year. This was our first time taking the whole family and my first time experiencing their brand new spa facilities. Keep reading for what to expect at the Spa at Rush Creek Lodge near Yosemite. I’ve also included five other reasons to take your family this season. This post is in collaboration with Rush Creek Lodge located in Groveland, California. We were hosted for a weekend stay, all opinions are completely my own.

After leaving Mike with the kids in our room (thanks honey!) I hustled over to the Spa at Rush Creek Lodge near Yosemite. The spa is located underneath the main lodge and is easy to find if you follow the path back to the play area. As soon as you approach the door to the spa area you start feeling more calm thanks to the water feature right outside. I was greeted for my morning massage appointment with a friendly smile and an offer of water. The receptionist also gave me a short form to fill out so I could identify any problem areas I thought I had.

I received a 50 minute Swedish massage. I loved that my massage therapist also incorporated hot stones on my arms and some tension knots in my neck. She always made sure that the pressure I’d requested (medium) was comfortable for me. I am pretty darn proud to say I stayed awake for my whole massage, even though it was the most relaxed I’ve ever been. Even though it was a stormy day outside both the room and the blankets on the massage table were the perfect temperature.

Besides offering a wide-range of full-body massage experiences the Spa at Rush Creek offers many other amenities. Once guidelines allow guests will be able to enjoy Warm Waterfall Coves, an Aromatherapy Steam Room, a Granite Waterfall Mineral Hot Tub, a Himalayan Salt Sauna, and more. For now small groups can schedule a private experience to enjoy these amenities. Like the rest of the Resort everything is beautifully executed and the attention to detail is perfect.

Not only was it an amazingly relaxing experience, but I also felt completely safe with their cleaning protocols in place. For ultimate relaxation a mask was not required while I was laying facedown. Instead they were using what was dubbed a “face tunnel”. It’s a funnel of fabric reaching from the massage table to the floor to breathe into. A mixture of essential oils had been spritzed on it so it was quite calming and not at all claustrophobic like I’d feared.

The Spa at Rush Creek Lodge near Yosemite has several options for those that want to enjoy the spa amenities with current guidelines. You can book individual massage treatments or even book a private couples or small group spa day experience.

5 more reasons to visit Rush Creek Lodge with your family:
  • Great amenities that you can enjoy in all seasons. Rush Creek Lodge has fun outdoor play and gathering areas. These include a large indoor game room for the kids and an outdoor saltwater pool that’s heated to 80°.
  • Delicious food in their restaurant and tavern (and poolside deck seasonally). Every time we visit we’re impressed by the unique offerings and the generous portion sizes. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time as they are practicing social distancing while dining.
  • An ideal location near Yosemite National Park. Rush Creek Lodge is the closest accommodations near the Highway 120 entrance to the park. If you want to visit the valley floor in late fall-early spring this entrance is typically kept open for visitors.
  • Unplug and unwind in one of their rooms or villa suites. I love that Rush Creek Lodge doesn’t have televisions in their rooms. Instead they encourage quality time with games, books, and even an Alexa for some background tunes.
  • Family activities that everyone will enjoy. Besides the fun amenities there are also planned activities throughout the day. These include crafts for kids and nightly s’mores around the fire.
