A couple of weeks ago I co-hosted a baby shower for a friend of mine. You probably caught some of the party prep on Instagram. Although, in true Justine fashion things were so crazy the day of I barely got any pictures or video taken as I had the mad dash race to finish line. Luckily, I was able to snap some quick photos in the first few minutes of the party. I also made sure to record some video of the DIY balloon garland I made for this “sweet as can bee” baby shower. I really do love the way this baby shower came together so I wanted to be sure and share all the sweet little details with you. And be sure to check out the free printable baby shower game I have for you too!
sweet as can bee details
I loved all the gender neutral details of this “sweet as can be” baby shower. We stuck with a yellow and white color scheme with touches of black. I also brought in lots of greenery. I had the idea to create a table runner from orange branches from my yard and I love the way it turned out with the store-bought florals. For the flowers I grabbed an assortment of jars and vases for the flowers around the deck, including a couple that I had spray painted yellow and gold. I love having parties outside because I feel like you don’t have to worry as much about decorations–nature is already so beautiful.

The weather was a little chiller that evening then is ideal. I did what I could to make it more pleasant for guests by draping blankets across some of the chairs. It also gave me a good excuse to purchase a patio heater. I’ve been wanting one for awhile but with everything that happened in 2020 they were sold out for awhile! My friend took care of all the food and not only was it all delicious, but it was beautiful as well. She even made decadent lemon and chocolate cupcakes to keep with our color scheme.
Scattergories baby shower game
Every baby shower needs some type of game or activity right? My friend that was helping to host the shower with me was trying to come up with a game idea. However, we quickly realized that all the shower games had been done before. Plus, in these days of COVID we wanted to do a game that wouldn’t be hands-on for those that would be uncomfortable doing so. We finally came up with a fun idea to do Scattergories with the letter “b” (“b” for baby and for bee!). My friend came up several fun categories like “nursery rhyme” and “baby boy name”. You can check out the rest of the categories and grab the free printable by clicking the button below!
diy balloon garland
Here is the video I shot of me making the balloon garland for the party. I had big dreams of this being a beautiful backdrop that people could take pictures in front of. Bonus points–it would help block our grill that’s on the deck and is not the prettiest sight to see. Unfortunately, the one thing I couldn’t control was the wind and it was VERY windy that evening. This led to the backdrop being blown over most of the party. The most important thing though is that it never blew away completely (thank you bungee cords and weights!) and the rest of the party came together beautifully.

I love how this baby shower looks, it’s such a fun theme for a gender-neutral shower. That game is also a fun idea, different from other ones I have seen out there.

[…] It was so fun to put this glamping party together, and with the help of Happy Glamping NorCal it was pretty easy on my part! I mostly focused on the favors, the food, and making a balloon garland, of course. You can find instructions for how to make a balloon garland in this blog post. […]
