If you’ve been following along on Instagram then you saw our recent getaway. Our family recently got back from an epic road trip to Texas. Along the way we visited a theme park, a national park, a waterpark, and even went glamping in Texas Hill Country. It was a trip we’ll always remember and I want to share it with all of you! First up is a review of an incredible and unique camping resort in New Braunfels called Camp Fimfo. It just opened on July 1st and it’s an incredible destination your family will love. This blog post is in partnership with Camp Fimfo in New Braunfels, Texas. All opinions are my own.

Glamping in Texas Hill Country

glamping in texas hill country

Texas Hill Country is a region of Central and South Texas. The area is best known (and named) for its notable hills of limestone and granite. Which explains all the beautiful stone homes you see in the area! Its early history included a lot of German immigration. You’ll still see this in the towns you’ll find such as Fredericksburg and New Braunfels. Speaking of New Braunfels, not only is that where Schlitterbahn is, but also where Camp Fimfo is located! Other areas of interest in Texas Hill Country include:

  • eat peaches and pie in the German town of Fredericksburg
  • check out all the New Braunfels attractions
  • explore the capitol city of Austin
  • see history at the Alamo and missions in San Antonio
  • take a tour of the Natural Bridge Caverns
  • visit Sea World or Six Flags in San Antonio

Camp Fimfo, glamping in Texas Hill Country

Camp Fimfo

Camp Fimfo New Braunfels is the first of its kind. A place to go glamping in the Texas Hill Country that’s a mixture of modern conveniences and vintage nostalgia. Located along the Guadalupe River, Camp Fimfo is ideally situated. It’s the perfect retreat that the whole family will love! Whether you want to go shopping in the capitol city of Austin or want to go float the day away on the river, there’s something for everyone. And that’s assuming you ever feel the need to leave the property!

ways to stay

As of this write-up, Camp Fimfo is still being built out. Although I wasn’t able to check out all that Camp Fimfo has to offer in terms of accommodations, I know that they’ll be as spectacular as the rest of the property. Once it is completed Camp Fimfo will offer traditional tent sites, luxurious RV spots, and cabins for parties from two guests to 12. Each RV site features full hookups and is paved. There’s also a fire ring, charcoal grill, and picnic table when you’re ready to fuel up for more fun!

Their Riverview Cabins are cozy accommodations for parties of two. As the name suggests they’re located right on the Guadalupe River and feature a mini fridge and private patio space. Families might want to check out the Bluebonnet Cabins which sleep up to eight and offer full kitchens! If you’re traveling in a larger group then the Coyote Cabins are worth a look. These boast three rooms and sleep up to 12 people! And if you want to bring Fido to Fimfo you should know that many sites and cabins are pet friendly! While we were there I thought how perfect this getaway would be for a couples getaway or for a family vacation.

things to do

You might be wondering what you’ll be able to do at Camp Fimfo? The better question is–what won’t you be able to do when you go glamping in Texas Hill Country? Camp Fimfo already has their pool and water zone area complete. This features a swimming pool, two hot tubs, a kid’s water zone, and a larger slide complex with two tube slides and two body slides. The pool has a swim-up bar and water activities like volleyball and basketball. There are also cabanas to rent to elevate your water day even more.

Near the pool area there is also mini golf, gem mining, and yard games outside the General Store. Don’t forget to take your picture near the murals and share on social media with #CampFimfo and #SquirrelySpotted! Who is Squirrely? He’s the mascot of Camp Fimfo. He’s also the inspiration behind Squirrely’s Tavern, where you can head if you’re in need of some liquid refreshment. In addition to the Tavern there’s the Filling Station that has a menu full of delicious barbecue eats and homemade ice cream.

Still to come for Camp Fimfo are playgrounds, a zip line, and an activity and craft center. Pretty soon you’ll also have direct access to the Guadalupe River.
