This summer has been hotter than last and we’ve been trying our best to stay cool. We’re fortunate to have air conditioning and a pool but sometimes it’s fun to switch things up.
ways to stay cool
go swimming
One of the most obvious ways to stay cool in the summer is go swimming. If you don’t have a pool or have access to one (friends or community pool) then think outside the box. The ocean, lake, and river are great natural bodies of water to splash around in. If none of those are an option then do an online search for local splashpads.
Please exercise extreme caution around water–especially natural bodies of water that can be unpredictable. Most incidents of drownings happen May-August. Sadly, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death in children ages 1 to 4 years, as well as ages 10 to 14 years. Even strong swimmers should be supervised.

Have you ever tried to make homemade ice cream? It’s actually really easy, we have the simple Cuisinart maker and it makes great ice cream in no time! Some family favorite recipes are toasted almond, birthday cake, and cookie butter. If you don’t have an ice cream maker you can always make ice cream in a bag too, it’s a fun activity for kiddos!
