It’s been a month since our epic summer road trip. We made a ton of memories and I took a ton of pictures! Which is great because it means that I’ll have lots of fun travel content to share from our vacation for awhile. One place I’ve been excited to share with you is the boutique motel in Tucson we stayed at called the Hotel McCoy. Keep reading to check out what makes this place so special and somewhere we’d love to return to. We partnered with Hotel McCoy on our family road trip. All opinions are completely my own.
boutique motel in Tucson
I admit I had qualms about visiting Tucson, Arizona in the middle of summer. But I knew that I couldn’t give up the opportunity to visit Saguaro National Park since it was right on our way! When I stumbled across Hotel McCoy online I knew it was meant to be. Located just 20 minutes from Saguaro National Park West and 30 minutes from the eastern portion, it was the perfect stop for us.
Tucson’s first art hotel
Hotel McCoy is Tucson’s first art hotel. What does that mean? It means that you are in for a truly unique experience! Local artists have painted murals, designed rooms, and created special moments everywhere you look. Not only that, but it’s all for sale. We had an adjoining King Kitchenette and Family Room. Both spaces featured local artists and information on how to buy any of the art in our rooms. The lobby features even more art and on select nights you can listen to local musical artists.

the perfect family-friendly boutique hotel in Tucson
family-friendly accommodations
One of the great things about this boutique motel in Tucson is that it’s perfect for any travel party! Our kids enjoyed the bunkbeds and space in the Family Room. Meanwhile, my husband and I found the spacious King Kitchenette to be incredibly comfortable and romantic. Our kitchenette gave us the ability to prepare some food in our room. But breakfast was covered with the World’s Longest Oatmeal Bar (currently you can order from your room and they’ll deliver) and a variety of Pop-Tarts flavors! Both our rooms featured generous 55″ flat screens with Roku capabilities–definitely fulfilling their claim of “Vintage Vibes. Modern Perks.”
on-site amenities
After a long travel day my kids were so excited to check out Oasis Beach. The pool area at Hotel McCoy is spacious enough for your whole crew to cool off from the Arizona heat. There’s also a great outdoor area poolside that features some outdoor games and plenty of space for lounging. Once the sun goes down they even have a fire pit and outdoor movies! Hotel McCoy also features a small gym and their very own on-site bookstore called Barrio Books. Another fun perk of staying here is that upon check-in you get a drink token you can redeem during your stay for an alcoholic beverage or a specialty soda (we chose soda and it was delicious!).

As much as I tried to showcase how special Hotel McCoy is, it’s truly a place you need to see on your own! Be sure to check them out next time you’re traveling through Tucson! They also have locations in College Station, Texas, and Pullman, Washington.

Such a cool motel! I’ve never considered going to Tucson!
It is such a cool base while you go and explore Saguaro National Park, visit the Pima Air and Space Museum (we drove by and it looked VERY cool!), or drive down to Tombstone!
