I know there are lots of readers of this blog who are in different seasons of life. If you’re like me with lots of little kids at home and need to stick to mostly at home dates you’ll find some ideas here. On the other hand, if you’re looking for date night ideas out of the house there are plenty of those too! I’m also a fan of planning group date nights so I made sure to include some on this list. These winter date night ideas might have you thinking outside the box but they’re sure to be a good time on any budget.

Cozy up by the firepit–If you’ve got a fireplace or an outdoor firepit this is the perfect this is the perfect at home date for those chilly winter nights. Gather some ingredients for s’mores, hot cocoa, and blankets and cozy up by the fire!
Soak in a hot tub–Don’t have one? No problem! However, did you know you can order an inflatable one from Amazon?! I’ve linked one in the ad below!
Cook or bake together–Find a new recipe online and make something together in the kitchen. Better yet, try one of the recipes on my site!
Sip on some hot cocoa–Make some hot cocoa or drive through your local coffee shop. Then sit and watch the sunset or snuggle together watching a show.

Stargaze during a new moon–If you’re lucky like we are then you can have ideal stargazing conditions right in your own backyard. Wait for a night without a lot of moonlight and cozy up outside.
Enjoy an indoor picnic–Pick up some takeout or make a meal together. Then lay out blankets in front of your tv or fireplace and enjoy a picnic in the wintertime.
Put together a puzzle–A 300-500 piece puzzle is totally doable in a single date night. Or pick a spot you can keep out a bigger puzzle and make a project out of it.
Play in the snow–Again, this only works if you live somewhere where it actually snows. Although, you can also ball up paper and have “snowball” fight if you want to get creative.

Go indoor skydiving–Find a local indoor skydiving place and get an adrenaline rush together!
Visit a museum–Go check out a local art or history museum. Several have monthly free days for locals or discount days for people in the county. Check out their website ahead of time. Or consider buying a membership to support them and go multiple times!
Have an old school arcade night–Does your local town have an arcade? Ours does! Or you can check out your local bowling alley or mini golf place (also fun date night ideas) which often have little arcades attached.
Enjoy a couples yoga or massage session–Enjoy some ultimate relaxation together by taking a yoga class or getting a couples massage! Check your area for Bikram Yoga classes to really sweat it out.
Volunteer together–Plan a date night out where you’re volunteering together. Your local soup kitchen or food bank could probably use some extra hands. Check out justserve.org for service opportunities in your area!
Attend the theater–Most theaters have opened up and now is a great time to catch up on the Broadway hits that are touring again. Check your local theater for season ticket holder information.

Book a room—If you can plan a night away then I highly recommend it! However, even if you can’t get away for the whole night consider checking in for the evening. Order room service, watch some tv, and take a swim in the hotel pool (if it’s indoor or heated!).
Go on a hike–Winter is a great time of year to hike because the trails are generally much less crowded and the scenery is still gorgeous. Be sure to check trail conditions ahead of time.
Take a class together–Whether it’s dance classes or learning how to blow glass, learning a new hobby together can be really fun! Plus, if you sign up for classes through the rec center it’s built-in date nights for the duration of the class!
Go indoor rock climbing–Take advantage of indoor facilities and go indoor rock climbing together this winter!
Try ax throwing–Ax throwing places are popping up all over and are a unique date night idea!
Go to a drive-in movie–Winter is a great time to grab some blankets and head to your local drive-in movie. Do an online search to find one in your area.

Try an escape room–An escape room is fun but even more so with a group of friends! Find some other couples and search for one in your area. Or buy an at-home game version and plan your own!
Host a dinner party–This could even happen after your kiddos have gone to bed. Pick a theme or have everyone dress in their fanciest clothes! Consider having the evening catered or pick up frozen foods that are easy to heat up.
Shoot each other at laser tag–You can beat the winter chill by running around with friends at laser tag! Divide into teams of couple or women versus men and have a blast! No pun intended.
Go bowling–Bowling is always fun and even more so when you’ve got a big group of friends to paly with!
Have a board game night–Mike and I love playing board games and this is something we used to try to plan with friends frequently. Be sure to pick games that can have a lot of players.

Attend a trivia night–Lots of local bars or entertainment venues will host a trivia night, or you can look up questions online and host your own!
Cheer at a hockey game–Hockey is the ultimate winter sport so grab some friends and catch a local game!
Laugh at a comedy club–Here is another date night that’s more fun with more friends. Just don’t sit near the front if you don’t want to be the subject of jokes!
Go ice skating–Whether you live somewhere cold or hot the last of the winter date night ideas is perfect. You can find indoor skating rinks in every climate and environment or go to an outdoor one that pops up in colder regions at this time of year.
