Our family loves visiting Apple Hill every fall. If you’re local to the Sacramento area then you know what a staple of the season Apple Hill is. This past weekend we were able to stay overnight at a beautiful and family-friendly Apple Hill vacation rental. It was so nice to be able to get away for the night and stay only minutes away from some of our favorite farms. If you’re planning a trip to Apple Hill with your family we highly recommend a stay at Casa Manzana!
what to do in Apple Hill
The Apple Hill Growers started as a community of four local growers and businessmen in Camino, California in 1964. There were originally 16 ranchers and today that has grown to over 50 farms that are officially part of Apple Hill. From apple orchards to wineries to Christmas Tree Farms, there is something for everyone. You can find a farm to pick your own berries, or you can pick up fresh-baked pies. Most farms are only open during the fall season. However, some are open all year while they rotate through different crops. In the fall you can take hay rides and visit pumpkin patches at many farms but the highlight of the fall season is definitely the apple cider and treats that several farms offer. You can check out the growers map here.

Apple Hill vacation rental
We live about an hour from Apple Hill so we typically plan two day trips a year–once in the summer and once in fall. However, this past weekend we had the opportunity to stay overnight at a vacation rental in Camino, California. We stayed at Casa Manzana and not only was the location beautiful, but it was right next in the heart of Apple Hill only minutes from many of the popular farms. We were conveniently sent a code the day of our stay for a keyless and hassle free check-in to our home away from home for the weekend.
We loved how simply yet beautifully the house was decorated; it definitely added to the cozy feeling. Casa Manzana features three bedrooms on a main level and walkout basement. The lower level has two bedrooms, including one that has two bunkbeds that our girls loved sharing! The kids enjoyed being on their own level down below with a bathroom of their own. Mike and I appreciated that we had the whole upstairs to ourselves once the kids went to bed. It was almost like we were on a getaway by ourselves!
This Apple Hill vacation rental also has all the comforts of home and then some. Outside amenities include a firepit, horseshoes, and cornhole. Inside there were plenty of towels, cleaning supplies, and basic needs for the kitchen. There’s even at washer and dryer at Casa Manzana if you need to do laundry during your stay. Our Airbnb host was incredibly responsive.. Although we never had any issues during our stay I know it would have been taken care of in no time.
Check out Casa Manzana:

I really enjoyed reading your experience in Apple Hill. It made me homesick! My parents were one of the original ranchers! I remember making the cardboard boxes and helping my dad filling them at the old barn on Hidden Valley Lane. Many more memories came to mind while reading your story. Those were the good old days for sure!
Aww, thank you so much! And that is so cool, thanks for sharing!
