This past weekend was my daughter’s ninth birthday. Although we don’t host a friend birthday party every year, she was definitely due for one. My warmer weather kids are always easy to plan a party for–just one of the many benefits of having a swimming pool. However, sometimes planning a winter birthday party for a kid can be a logistical nightmare. Luckily, this year I had a brilliant idea and my daughter loved it too. Keep reading for all the details of her glamping party. This post is in partnership with Happy Glamping NorCal, all opinions are my own.
glamping party details
It was so fun to put this glamping party together, and with the help of Happy Glamping NorCal it was pretty easy on my part! I mostly focused on the favors, the food, and making a balloon garland, of course. You can find instructions for how to make a balloon garland in this blog post.

what activities can you do at a glamping party?
My daughter’s party was only three hours and she wanted to watch a movie so we didn’t need to “plan” much. Eating, movie watching, cake eating, and present opening would fill up most of the party time. I did pick up a simple craft kit for each of the girls to make a little yarn and felt banner. However, I discovered it wasn’t really needed and most of the girls lost interest halfway through. If you did want to include an activity here are some ideas:
- decorate a pillowcase
- make a dream catcher
- a glamping-themed Mad-Lib game
- a scavenger hunt
easy food to serve at a non-sleepover birthday party
After talking with my daughter we decided on breakfast for dinner. Since this was a non-sleepover sleepover she still wanted to be able to enjoy yummy breakfast food with her friends. She picked pancakes, sausage, and fruit. It was all very simple to put together. I even used my Mini Dash to make the pancakes extra cute to match her theme. There are lots of fun ideas for food you could choose for a glamping party though!
other ideas include:
- skip the meal and have a s’mores bar for dessert instead
- choose traditional camping food like hot dogs and chili
- plan on movie-theater snacks like popcorn and licorice
- serve upscale breakfast food for a truly elevated experience, like blintzes or crepes
party favors for a 9th birthday glamping party
I am really picky about party favors because I greatly dislike all the little throw away toys kids usually get. I typically prefer to have quality items over quantity and I might have gotten a little carried away with the party favors for this glamping party. It started with bath bombs because my girls all love them. Then I thought it would be cute to get all the guests sleep masks too. And because food makes everything better I decided to order some cotton candy push pops from a friend of mine. Lastly, I was perusing Amazon for something else when I had the genius idea to order some mini flashlights for all the girls. Bottom line–there are so many cute favors you could order for a party like this!
all about Happy Glamping NorCal
Lauri is the owner of Happy Glamping NorCal and started this endeavor during the pandemic. She not only offers individual mini tents as featured in my daughter’s birthday party, but also large tents for upscale events outdoors. I loved that I didn’t have to worry about much in terms of party set-up. I had discussed with Lauri ahead of time the theme that we wanted and she let me know how much space she would need. On the day of the party all I had to worry about was the food and setting up the balloon garland I had made. Happy Glamping NorCal offers over a dozen themes and custom themes can even be requested for an additional fee!

I am blown away by the cuteness of this! When I read the title and saw the pictures, I thought it was going to be about glamour, like manicures, pedicures, etc. Then I saw it was all about glamorous camping. So clever and unique, and your party favors were the cutest idea ever! You never cease to amaze me, raising all these adorable children, this job, and also being pg. you must survive on very little sleep.
I absolutely loved everything about this party!
Super adorable! I love the glamping theme. This would be fun not just for Birthdays but for a cousin sleep over. A Girl Scout Troop day of fun. Possibilities are endless and what a time saver for Moms and Dads planning parties.
That is a great idea!
