You know that our family loves to go on adventures together. We especially enjoy a good road trip. However, what we don’t love is the smelly car by the time we get to the end of our travels. Let’s just be real–a large family in a vehicle for days on end does not make for a nice-smelling car. Here is an easy tutorial for a DIY travel diffuser for essential oils. It’s perfect for taking on the go! Some links contain affiliates, all opinions are my own.
how to make your own travel diffuser
This DIY project is so easy to make that you’ll find it hard to stop at just one. Not only can you hang this from your review mirror, but you could also use it as a keychain. You can even hang it in your hotel room when you reach your destination. It makes for a great gift too!
materials needed:
- raw wooden beads
- wool felt balls
- jute or embroidery floss
- thick needle for piercing the felt balls
- essential oils
I like using a mixture of raw wooden beads and felt wool balls but the arrangement is totally up to you. Personally, I think about 5 or 6 beads is the ideal length. All you have to do is string the wooden beads and felt balls along the jute or embroidery floss and you’re done!

I love essential oils and this idea is brilliant! Definitely going to give it a try!
I’m not sure about other states but in Minnesota it is illegal to hang anything from your your rear view mirror. It allows the police to pull you over and give you a ticket and I believe that they now can search your car. Check all of those laws in your state
Tarts true some states don’t allow it. If it’s illegal in your state than you can always use it as a keychain and get the same aroma therapy benefits!
