Our family loves theme parks and we love eating. Put those two things together and you have the festivals that some of our California theme parks are known for. Today I’m going to be sharing a fabulous New Orleans-style festival that’s in the Bay Area. There’s food, fun, and fireworks that will make you feel like you’re in the Big Easy! This post is in partnership with California’s Great America, a Cedar Fair park. All opinions of Carnivale at California’s Great America are my own.
Carnivale at California’s Great America
Our family just went to Carnivale at California’s Great America and had so much fun. In fact, I couldn’t wait to tell you all about it! This is the last weekend and you definitely don’t want to miss out!

the sights of Mardi Gras at Carnivale
There are so many great things to see during Carnivale at Orleans Place. During the weekends fireworks light up the sky with a bright celebration. But the weekend doesn’t have all the exciting fun! During the week guests can immerse themselves in the Spectacle of Color Parade. We loved watching the extravagant floats and the talented street performers. The kids even got to take part in some of the fun! There’s also a traditional New Orleans Second Line Processional that announces the King and Queen of Carnivale. This is what officially kicks off the fun!
the sounds of Carnivale at California’s Great America
Orleans Place has two stages with performances throughout the day. There are also jazz musicians wandering throughout the area filling the air with the sounds of New Orleans. We loved walking around Orleans Place and feeling like we were a part of the celebration happening all around us! And we can’t forget the dance parties and a send-off fit for a Carnivale King and Queen.
the tastes of the Big Easy
One of the highlights of Carnivale at California’s Great America is the tasting card. There are several limited food options available during the festival. You can purchase a card with 6 taste options for $39.99, or a card with 10 taste options for $59.99. These tasting cards can be used any day during Carnivale at Orleans Place, which runs between July 19 – August 6, 2023 (excluding Mondays & Tuesdays). Most tasting card food locations open at 2pm until park closing. Bring your e-voucher to any of the participating Carnivale at Orleans Place food booths to receive your tasting lanyard.
