Summer camping season is in full swing. Every day I see RVs and trailers making their way up I-80 to get over the pass and have an adventure. Our family loves to camp and now that we have our trailer we try to get away to the wilderness even more often. If your family has camping plans this summer (or beyond!) make sure you check out this camping packing list. It includes just about everything you may need for your next camping trip. I’ve even made two printables for you–one camping checklist for tent camping and one camper checklist, depending on how you like to camp.
two camping packing lists
Some might say I’m an over-preparer. I like to know what’s going on and have a plan, but also know it’s important to be flexible–especially when camping with kids! I’ve made two printables–a tent camping packing list and a RV camping checklist. Many of the items on both lists are the same. However, this way you can print up the list that is most relevant for you!
tent camping packing list
It wasn’t until I was a parent myself that I understood all of the hard work that went into every camping trip! I have so many fond memories of camping with my own family growing up–never did I realize all the things you have to pack. It can be easy to forget an essential tent camping item, so I hope this camping packing list is helpful! I tried to include everything you may need, but you should always evaluate your unique needs when packing for a family camping trip. Another important factor when packing up your tent and camping supplies is the time of year you’re going and what your campground has to offer. There is a wide-range of campgrounds, from completely barebones to glamping resort. Do your research ahead of time to be prepared!

RV camping checklist
There are definitely a couple of perks to RV camping. First of all, you have a comfortable place to sleep, which is always a plus. In an RV you are also self-contained, so you don’t have to rely on a campfire or campground bathroom, etc. That being said, the first couple of times you go camping in your RV or trailer it will seem a little overwhelming with all the things you need to bring. However, if you own you own recreational vehicle for camping, you can store a lot of it in your vehicle. That way, you’re one step closer to going on your next adventure! This camping packing list includes many items that you can keep in your RV or trailer long term. Or, if you’re renting, they should already be supplied. Verify with the person or company you’re renting from before leaving on your family camping trip!
