As soon as you step onto Main Street, U.S.A., you’re immediately greeted by the holiday decor. From the sparkling lights, to the massive Christmas tree decked with ornaments, to the festive garlands draped everywhere. The whole park is transformed into a southern California version of a winter wonderland. The attention to detail is nothing short of spectacular—exactly what you’d expect from Disney. Everywhere you look, there’s a nod to the holidays, whether it’s snow-covered rooftops, wreaths hung in every corner, or Mickey-shaped ornaments in the shop windows.

Sleeping Beauty’s Castle is definitely the star of the show, with shimmering icicles hanging down and a beautiful glow from the lights. As night falls, the castle sparkles in a way that’s reminiscent of a snow-covered palace. It’s the perfect backdrop if you happen to be attending on an evening when Disneyland’s Christmas firework show Believe… In Holiday Magic.

Other than the park-wide holiday decor, the holiday overlays for rides are also a fun part of the Christmas magic. At Disneyland during Christmas, several of the park’s iconic rides get a festive makeover. One of the highlights is the “it’s a small world” Holiday. Truthfully? I much prefer this ride at Christmas over the rest of the year.

Another fan-favorite is the Haunted Mansion Holiday, where the spooky fun of the Haunted Mansion collides with the whimsical world of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s a must-do during your holiday visit! Note that most people feel the same way and lines can get quite long.

And of course, don’t forget about A Christmas Fantasy Parade. This parade is a holiday staple at Disneyland at Christmas. It features all your favorite Disney characters dressed in their holiday best. Santa Claus even makes an appearance at the end of the parade, which is always a fun treat!

And even though it’s chilly Christmas weather, the seasonal Dole Whip flavors are always a crowd favorite! If you’re looking for a sit-down dining experience, many of the restaurants in Disneyland offer holiday-themed menus, perfect for enjoying a special meal together as a family.

   While Disneyland at Christmas is breathtaking, it’s also one of the busiest times of the year. We highly recommend taking advantage of rope drop. Lightning Lane Passes is another option if the cost is worth it to you. It’s also a great idea to make dining reservations ahead of time, especially for character meals or special holiday dinners.
2. Bring Holiday Gear
   Everyone loves getting festive at Disneyland, so don’t forget to dress your family in holiday-themed gear! You’ll see plenty of Mickey and Minnie Christmas sweaters, holiday hats, and matching family outfits. You can even purchase holiday Mickey ears to get into the spirit. Pack some warm clothes since evenings in Anaheim can get chilly, especially after the sun goes down.
3. Take Advantage of Photo Opportunities
   Disneyland at Christmas is picture-perfect at every turn, so be sure to capture those special moments. From the towering Christmas tree on Main Street to the snow-dusted Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, there are plenty of places to snap family photos. Be sure to take advantage of the PhotoPass photographers stationed around the park too!
4. Make Time for Santa
   What’s Christmas without a visit to Santa Claus? At Disneyland, you can meet Santa in a few different locations, including Critter Country and at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in Disney California Adventure.
