I’ve been blogging a long time and I’ve learned a lot over these past 14 years. For example, what makes good SEO and what doesn’t. Admittedly, my annual “best of the blog” recaps are not the best avenue for getting pageviews or pins on Pinterest. However, I love looking back over what performed well and what goals I met (or didn’t). So, I appreciate you being here and checking out how the 2024 blog posts did on my blog! And if you’re new around here, I hope you’ll stick around for all 2025 has in store!
best blog posts of 2024
Here are the top-performing blog posts that were published to my blog in 2024. You might just be surprised by the posts in the top two spots!
#10-6
Something I’ve been trying to do more this year is take inspirations from Pinterest Trends when creating content. That’s the case with my camping list printables, and it performed well on the blog coming in at number 10!
I tried to think about posts that are helpful to me while traveling with my own family, so I came up with this blog post with 12+ ideas for B-roll travel footage to capture. It was fun coming up with a list and capturing these snippets will change your home movies!
At the beginning of the year I wrote a blog post of the ultimate guide to stress-free family travel. Looks like a lot of you wanted some help to have more relaxing family trips this year because that post came in at number eight.
If you’re looking for a small-town version of Disneyland, Gilroy Gardens in central California is it! My article full of tips for visiting this one-of-a-kind amusement park took the seventh spot in my top blogs.
You know our family loves visiting national parks so I’m thrilled that my blog post about the least-visited national park in the contiguous United States–North Cascades–made it in the top ten! We had so much fun exploring this beautiful park on our summer family road trip and I hope that reading all of our tips for visiting North Cascades with kids inspires you to make a visit!
#5-1
I was excited to see another national parks blog post squeaking into the top five blog posts with my article about what to do in Moab with kids. We had so much fun there last fall and I’m glad I was finally able to write up a blog post all about it!
Our daughter turned eight in 2023 and I shared it on the blog last year. It was such a fun day to plan with her and all the details came together so cute. Coming in at number four, it looks like several of you were interested in rainbow-themed baptism too!
Our year as Universal Studios passholders has really worked out well for Pinterest and my blog. Not only is my post about different Universal Studios Hollywood itineraries in the number three spot on the blog, it’s been soaring on Pinterest too!
Ironically, that’s the end of the travel-related blog posts in my top blogs countdown. The second-most read blog post on Little Dove this year was all about my daughter’s Bluey birthday party! Insider secret–all things Bluey have been doing really well on Pinterest this year too.
T-Swizzle is the reason behind my number one blog post for the year–how to make a friendship bracelet garland from Dollar Store materials. Funny that my number one blog post for 2024 takes me back to my DIY blogging roots.
blog goals for 2024: looking back
I love looking back on my blog goals for each year to see what I did, and didn’t accomplish. I’m excited and somewhat proud to say that 2024 is my first year in 14 years of blogging that I actually did accomplish each of my three blog goals. If you’re a blogger yourself and feeling discouraged just keep in mind, we’re all on our own journey at our own pace.
- Increase my pageviews by 50,000+. In 2024 I surpassed my goal for growth on my blog and increased my pageviews by over 100,000 views, having my best year ever on the blog. Unfortunately, most of that growth was in the first seven months of the year and after July my pageviews got hit by a Google update that I’m still trying to recover from.
- Grow my newsletter. I’ve been wanting to be better about utilizing my email list for years, that includes creating an opt-in. Although I didn’t create a dedicated opt-in, I did add an email requirement to several printables on the blog with the help of the Grow plugin. My newsletter has finally grown this year after being stagnant for years, and I was fairly, although not completely, consistent with my newsletters.
- Make more money. As I’ve mentioned several times, I didn’t start blogging to make money. However, it’s nice to be compensated somewhat for all the time I spend creating free content. I did make a little more money than in 2023, including a 233% increase in income from ad revenue.
blog goals for 2025: looking ahead
I always like to share my blogging goals for the coming year, mostly so I can look back at them. As I’ve learned and progressed over the past year, I’ve thought a lot about what my goals are for this blog.
- Increase my pageviews by 50,000+ again. With the constant Google updates that have been messing with blogger’s views over the past two years, I feel like an increase of this amount will be difficult, but not impossible. I plan to accomplish this by continuing to update old posts to increase SEO, continuing to post consistently, and continuing to utilize Pinterest. I also want to look into some new-to-me marketing techniques, like press releases.
- Work on my YouTube channel. Like last year I declared the year of my newsletter, this year is going to be the year of my YouTube. I want to create more professional videos, including the end scenes. I also want to upload one new video a month. Hopefully this modest goal will make it easy to accomplish.
- Build my Amazon storefront. After years of being an Amazon affiliate and making a few dollars, I finally started making some decent money in Quarter 3 of 2024. Rather than just sharing product links, which doesn’t really yield much results for me–I started building my storefront and made more in three months with my storefront than I did in the past THREE YEARS by just sharing links. My goal is to upload one new idea list/image/video per week.
